Bishop David Brown School are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children both physically and mentally both inside and outside of school. The safeguarding of students is the responsibility of all members of staff and underpins everything that we do.
The Bishop David Brown School safeguarding policy sets out a clear and consistent framework from which all school staff work from to ensure students welfare is at the forefront of everything we do.
This will be achieved by:
- Ensuring all staff have a “ it can happen here” attitude towards safeguarding
- Provide a safe environment where students can learn
- Embedding key safeguarding themes across the curriculum
- Identifying and making appropriate provision for any student that is at risk of or have been subject to abuse
- Ensuring that all staff, governors and volunteers understand their responsibilities towards safeguarding children
- Staff are able to recognise signs of child abuse and understand how this should be reported

All members of staff at Bishop David Brown School, know what to do if a child tells them he/she is being abused or neglected. Members of staff know to maintain an appropriate level of confidentiality whilst at the same time liaising with relevant professionals such as the Designated Safeguarding Lead at the school and other agencies as appropriate.
